“Don’t you dare compare your magic to mine or anyone else’s.
That’s a fools mission, you know.
No happiness was ever born from wishing you had someone else’s gifts while ignoring your own.
That’s a fools mission, you know.
No happiness was ever born from wishing you had someone else’s gifts while ignoring your own.
Stop looking around and look within.
You are magic, Wild Woman.
Own that thing.”
~ Brooke Hampton
Hmmm, comparison is a fools mission.
Well, yes, and… I would like to give you permission to compare. It’s ok. Gently own comparison. Sooth it, welcome it, let yourself know it’s not your fault that you compare and that you’re not broken just because you’re not fully embodied in self love and worthiness… yet.
If you can shine a light on the shame of comparison and own that you do this, it won’t have nearly as much power over you. I promise.
It makes perfect sense in the world we live in, given the conditioning we’ve all been subjected to, societally, culturally and within our own family systems, however nuanced and different they may be from one another. Conditioning can also span generations and it lives in our cells, our DNA.
It’s so common to look around, to compare, to feel less than, not enough, to forget your own worth, your own beauty, your own unique magic.
Therefore, if you compare yourself to others, it’s ok. I see you in that. Begin to have compassion for yourself and know that it’s completely normal.
And… my invitation to you is to also bring your attention back to yourself and look within. Become curious, explore, discover what is beneath this conditioning, beneath these beliefs that keep you looping in comparisons or ‘I’m not enough-ness’. Feel into your heart and your wise, soft belly. Listen and feel into to the uniqueness and beauty that you are. What is wanting to rise?
Your are perfect and whole and complete. You are just as worthy and beautiful and radiant and capable as the next woman, even the woman/women you may compare yourself to. Perhaps you already know this and own this and if you do, I celebrate you. Or, perhaps you’re just starting to unfurl from a state of sleep, remembering a little but there’s a ways to go before you’re fully embodied in your perfection. If this is you, I also celebrate you.
Remember, you are magic. You are powerful. Is now the time to reclaim your essence? The powerful, divine essence you were born with, radiating from every cell in your body, before any programming, trauma and patterning blurred the truth and dimmed the light of who you really are?
You are magic, wild woman. You simply would not exist if this were not true. It’s time to rise and own that thing.
Love,
