Oh boy, these past 36 hours have filled me with so

Oh boy, these past 36 hours have filled me with so much emotion because of the love, kindness and power of community spirit. 💫

One of Will’s support workers, Lee Stewart, and I were talking recently about a vision I have for part of my backyard, a space that has been terribly neglected and is also in direct view from Will’s bedroom.

My plan was to someday clean it up first (which felt like a collosil task) and then have doors leading from Will’s room out onto a deck which would ajoin an exisitng deck, allowing him access to our whole house easily. Next thing I know, Lee has created this community project. Whoa! 😮Thank you, Lee! 🥹🥹🥹🥹🙏🏻💜

I gotta say, there’s a part of me that feels shame that a part of my home is in such a state, given the rest of my home is a beautiful sanctuary that has had love, care and creativity poured into it for years. The same love, care and creativity that gets poured into my boys and my work.

Pretty much, this section of the yard just became too difficult to maintain, then became overwhelming to ‘start’ to reverse the state it was in, so thanks to some bamboo fencing, I blocked it out. Can’t see it, isn’t happening. 🤦🏼‍♀️ 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

So, I’m going to just be with that shame AND also receive all this support with grace, acknowledging the parts of me that are beaming with gratitude, awe, appreciation and love for what is happening.

Massive thank you to Lee for kicking this off and to every person in our community and afar who has either donated money, products, services, time or encouragement. So grateful for it all. 🙏🏻

Finally, saving the best till last, can we all acknowledge these tradies for a moment. Thank you, thank you, thank you. My heart is full. Young men, you’re no doubt making your mum’s proud!!! 👊🏻❤️

I’ve been pretty absent from posts this past year, mostly being active in my stories but I’m going to do things differently in the months ahead.

I’ll be engaging with you more in posts by way of my musings, embodiment practices, self care nourishment and my lived experience wisdom. 🌹

Power resides in this moment 🌀🤍 How can you

Power resides in this moment 🌀🤍

How can you use this knowledge to heal from a broken heart? 💔 I worked with a client this week who arrived with this tenderness in their heart, and I shared this wisdom with them, acknowledging also that healing from heartbreak is best nurtured holistically. My share is only part of the process. 🍃

Living solely in the past, dwelling on bad memories, can be a distressing experience. The more we immerse ourselves in those memories, the more our mood worsens, and we lose sight of the goodness and potential for positivity around us.

Interestingly, the same is true when we try to live exclusively in positive memories. This can lead us to resist the present moment, resulting in similar negative effects. Also, bypassing or avoiding what feels uncomfortable can create more dis-ease in the body.

Conversely, fixating solely on the present can also be unproductive, especially if our awareness is too narrow. So, what to do?!!! 🫣

My recommendation is do your best to live ‘mostly’ in the present and have compassion for yourself when your thoughts slip to the past or project to the future.

Become mindful that in Hawaiian culture, all time is present time. Everything that happens is relative to the present moment, either finished, happening or unfinished.

With this in mind, when you do place your awareness in the present, embrace it fully with all your senses - sight, sound, touch, action, taste and response. This not only supports you to be in this moment but it also allows a more expansive view of the present moment. When you are fully present this way, the past begins to loosen its grip, and your heart may begin to heal. Slowly, slowly 🌺 xo
